Products Description of Polysulfone CAS#25135-51-7

Polysulfone, also known as bisphenol A polysulfone, is a transparent linear thermoplastic engineering polymer with a slight amber appearance. It exhibits excellent mechanical performance, outstanding dielectric properties, and good chemical resistance. Its key advantages include high temperature resistance, excellent dimensional stability, high mechanical strength, radiation resistance, electrical insulation properties, self-extinguishing characteristics, flame retardancy, and non-toxicity. However, its resistance to weathering and ultraviolet radiation is relatively limited.

Polysulfone refers to a class of polymers containing sulfone groups (—SO₂—), with major types including bisphenol A polysulfone, polyarylsulfone, and polyethersulfone. Among them, bisphenol A polysulfone is the most representative variety, appearing as a slightly amber-colored linear polymer. Polyphenylene ethersulfone is a high-temperature-resistant thermoplastic resin with excellent thermal performance.

POLYSULFONE CAS#25135-51-7

Product Application of Polysulfone CAS#25135-51-7

Polysulfone is widely applied in various industries, including machinery, electronics, electrical engineering, instrumentation, aerospace, automotive, and shipbuilding.

In the electronics and electrical sectors, it is used for manufacturing integrated circuit boards and printed circuit boards for televisions, radios, and computers, as well as potentiometer housings, drill housings, battery cases, electroplating tanks, distribution panels, and insulated cables for electrical equipment.

In the automotive industry, polysulfone is utilized in the production of vehicle components such as skid plates, gearshift covers, dashboards, and fan covers. Glass fiber-reinforced polysulfone can be used for manufacturing automobile mudguards and covers, while chrome-plated and aluminum-plated polysulfone materials are suitable for producing headlight reflectors.

In mechanical applications, polysulfone is used to manufacture gears, vacuum pump blades, washing machine components, and various machine parts. In the instrumentation field, it is applied in the production of instrument housings, covers, and heat-resistant insulating components. In aerospace applications, polysulfone can be used for certain cabin and air duct components.

Additionally, polysulfone is used in the manufacture of water and gas pipelines, household products, and kitchen utensils. However, it has limitations including relatively poor processing performance, high molding temperature requirements, and limited solvent resistance.
