Products Description of Tetrahydrofuran CAS#109-99-9

Tetrahydrofuran (THF) is a heterocyclic organic compound belonging to the ether family and is the fully hydrogenated derivative of the aromatic compound furan. As one of the most highly polar ethers, THF is widely used as a medium-polar solvent in chemical reactions, extractions, and various industrial processes.

At room temperature, THF appears as a colorless, volatile liquid with a characteristic ether-like odor. It exhibits excellent solvency and is compatible with a wide range of organic solvents, including water, ethanol, ether, acetone, and benzene, earning it the reputation of a “universal solvent.” It is partially miscible with water at room temperature.

Due to its tendency to form peroxides during storage, industrial THF products are typically stabilized with the antioxidant BHT to improve storage stability. The moisture content is controlled at ≤0.2%. With advantages such as low toxicity, low boiling point, and good fluidity, THF is widely applied in chemical synthesis and industrial manufacturing.
