Monoethanolamine (Ethanolamine) is a viscous, hygroscopic amino alcohol containing both amine and hydroxyl functional groups. It is naturally present in the body and serves as a component of lecithin. Due to its unique chemical properties, monoethanolamine has a wide range of industrial applications.
It is commonly used in the production of agricultural chemicals, pharmaceuticals, detergents, and other chemical products. In addition, it can be applied as a surfactant, fluorometric reagent, and an absorbent for the removal of carbon dioxide (CO₂) and hydrogen sulfide (H₂S). In the pharmaceutical field, ethanolamine is used as a vascular sclerosing agent and also exhibits antihistamine activity, helping alleviate adverse symptoms associated with H1 receptor binding.
