Benzyl alcohol is widely used as a solvent in the dielectrophoretic alignment and reconfiguration of nanowires, as well as in inks, paints, lacquers, and epoxy resin coatings. It also serves as a precursor for various esters used in the production of soaps, perfumes, and flavoring agents.
In pharmaceutical applications, benzyl alcohol can be used as a local anesthetic to help reduce the pain associated with lidocaine injections.
